SF Oasis brings back 'Fresh Prince'- and yes, there's a Carlton dance
Briefly

The SF Oasis's revival of 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' captures the essence of the iconic 90s show while infusing it with contemporary camp and charisma. Major Hammy's portrayal of Will and Mudd's take on Carlton bring a fresh energy, reminiscent of the show’s original spirit. Director Snaxx emphasized the importance of showcasing Black performers, reflecting on how the representation of Black culture in the 90s laid the groundwork for future entertainers. Through vibrant humor and nostalgia, the production honors its legacy amid modern controversies surrounding its history.
It's been 35 years since the show catapulted Will Smith into stardom, not to mention ushering in a legacy of Black people in entertainment since the 90s.
For Fresh Prince, Snaxx hopes the past stands apart from later controversy. "The thing about TV shows is they're so 'of a time,' and sometimes the material (or the actors) age poorly," Snaxx said.
