Two-Item Tuesday: BART Ridership Still Climbing - Streetsblog San Francisco
"The ridership gains reflect the continued impact of the New BART experience, a systemwide focus on customer experience improvements. Recent investments in safety, cleanliness, and innovative offerings, such as Next Generation Clipper and a new BART App integration with Uber, are helping strengthen rider confidence and bring people back to the system."
"Don't love thinking about how all of us on this red line train [see above image] would be impacted if the orange line was cut and service was just once an hour."
"We need to pass the Connect Bay Area to prevent this and save transit,"
"Sign the petition and vote in November."
BART reported a 13.5 percent year-over-year ridership increase for December, reaching an average of 172,173 weekday riders. Systemwide customer-experience investments, including safety and cleanliness improvements, Next Generation Clipper, and a BART App integration with Uber, are credited with strengthening rider confidence. Ridership remains below pre-pandemic levels but is steadily increasing. Ongoing funding challenges could force significant service reductions, risking impacts to lines such as the orange line and reducing transit alternatives as San Francisco traffic delays return. Caltrain and VTA are preparing special service and promotion for Super Bowl travel to Levi's Stadium.
