Padres Outright Trenton Brooks
Briefly

Trenton Brooks has been sent outright to Triple-A El Paso after clearing waivers. The 30-year-old was designated for assignment and had limited playing time with the Padres, appearing 43 times at the plate with a disappointing .146/.186/.268 line. Following significant roster upgrades by the Padres, Brooks found himself off the roster. If he accepts his assignment, he may receive more playing time in Triple-A, but he faces a challenging path back to the majors. His minor league performance, however, shows promise with a strong track record from 2022 onward.
Brooks, 30, signed a minor league deal with the Friars in the offseason and was selected to the big league roster in the middle of June, holding a spot for about six weeks but without much playing time.
Brooks stepped to the plate 43 times with 13 strikeouts and two walks, leading to a .146/.186/.268 line during his limited time with the Padres.
The Padres made a number of notable upgrades ahead of the deadline, adding Ramón Laureano, Ryan O'Hearn, Freddy Fermin, and Will Wagner, which led to Brooks being designated for assignment.
From the start of 2022 to the present day, Brooks has a 14.5% walk rate, 15.3% strikeout rate, .292/.397/.501 line, and 126 wRC+ in 1,540 Triple-A plate appearances.
