Lucas Paquetá is set to rejoin Flamengo from West Ham after the club allowed him to travel for a medical. He sought a return to Brazil because of mental strain from a two-year battle to clear his name over betting misdemeanours, having been acquitted in July last year. Flamengo have offered around £40 million and West Ham have reluctantly sanctioned the departure. Paquetá arrived at West Ham from Lyon in 2022 for about £50m, has had mixed success, and has struggled for form amid a relegation fight. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo described him as a special player and person.
