Nottingham Forest have signed 22-year-old Italian defender Nicolo Savona from Juventus on a five-year contract for an initial £11.2m plus up to £2.2m in add-ons, totalling up to £13.4m. Savona joined Juventus at age eight and made his senior debut last season, appearing 40 times across Serie A, the Champions League and the Club World Cup. He primarily plays as a right-back but can also operate centrally and at left-back. His performances earned a call-up to the Italy squad, although he did not play. The signing is Forest’s ninth of the summer amid significant transfer activity as the club prepare for Europa League football.
