Wissa picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty with the Democratic Republic of Congo earlier this month, having only joined Newcastle from Brentford on deadline day. The forward's move was only confirmed minutes before the 9pm deal sheet deadline, after Newcastle required additional time to officially seal the striker's arrival."

Yoane Wissa picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty with the Democratic Republic of Congo shortly after completing his £55 million transfer from Brentford to Newcastle on deadline day. The forward's move was confirmed minutes before the 9pm deal sheet deadline. Eddie Howe confirmed Wissa will be sidelined for six matches, including Champions League fixtures against Barcelona and Union Saint-Gilloise, with Nick Woltemade set to cover in his absence. Wissa is unlikely to join DR Congo in October qualifiers and should be available for 13 subsequent matches; AFCON participation could rule him out for an additional five games.
