Emmy Awards: Tramell Tillman makes history with Severance win
"You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for, do the work, show up, and most importantly, for the love of God, don't embarrass me in public,"
"My first acting coach was tough, y'all, but all great mothers are. Mama, you were there for me when no one was and no one else would show up. Your loving kindness stays with me, and this is for you,"
"Thank you to the Academy. I am full, I am humbled, I am honoured, and as my mama would say, 'Woo! Look at God!'"
"I don't want this to ruin your career, I don't want you to be blackballed, I don't want you to be pigeonholed."
Tramell Tillman won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2025 awards, becoming the first Black actor to win that category. Tillman plays Lumon manager Seth Milchick on the Apple TV+ drama Severance. He beat nominees from The White Lotus and two Severance castmates, including Zach Cherry and John Turturro. Tillman accepted the award at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles and thanked his mother, joking and praising her support. Tillman has described his mother's earlier fears that coming out could "ruin" his career and her later pledge to embrace anyone he brought home. The category had not honoured a Black performer in its 77-year history before his win.
