Man charged in New Hampshire country club shooting makes first court appearance
"My husband got caught in the fire trying to protect us,"
"selfless acts of courage by the patrons in the restaurant who put aside care for their own safety and worked to intervene and stop the shooter."
"He hit him over the head with a chair, and he probably saved a bunch of lives just doing that,"
An ex-employee allegedly opened fire at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua Saturday, killing one and wounding two. The suspect, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau of Nashua, was arrested nearby and charged with second-degree murder; he waived arraignment and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in early October. Investigators do not believe the shooting was targeted and are still probing possible motives. Patrons and staff intervened to stop the shooter, with one wedding DJ striking the suspect with a chair. The slain man was identified as 59-year-old Robert DeCesare Jr.; his wife said he tried to protect their family.
