More employers, such as AT&T and Amazon, are shifting their work culture to require employees to return to office full-time and prioritize performance over tenure. AT&T's CEO John Stankey communicated this change, emphasizing a focus on capability, contribution, and commitment. Workers are urged to adapt by showing up in person and demonstrating their value, as work-life balance is receiving less emphasis. If employees' personal desires do not align with organizational demands, they are encouraged to seek alternative career opportunities.
"If the requirements dictated by this dynamic do not align to your personal desires, you have every right to find a career opportunity that is suitable to your aspirations and needs," Stankey said.
"The spillover from home life to work life is not of concern to bosses these days," said Yale University management professor Jeffrey Sonnen.
