Ousted CDC director to testify that Health Secretary RFK Jr. pushed her to ethics breach on vaccines
"Even under pressure, I could not replace evidence with ideology or compromise my integrity,"
"Vaccine policy must be guided by credible data, not predetermined outcomes."
"fired for holding the line on scientific integrity."
Susan Monarez plans to tell senators that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pressured her to endorse new vaccine recommendations before she reviewed scientific evidence. Kennedy allegedly gave an ultimatum to preapprove recommendations from an advisory CDC panel he assembled or face termination. Monarez was fired weeks into the job after policy disagreements and says she refused to substitute ideology for evidence. Monarez also alleges Kennedy directed firings of several high-ranking CDC officials without cause. The Senate hearing will examine the leadership turmoil’s potential impact on children’s health and includes testimony from Debra Houry; Kennedy denies the accusations.
