Trump Criticizes Pentagon's New Press Restrictions (VIDEO)
"No, I don't think so, Trump said. Nothing stops reporters, you know that."
"This is so dumb that I have a hard time believing it is true, said Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) in a post on X Saturday. We don't want a bunch of Pravda newspapers only touting the Government's official position. A free press makes our country better. This sounds like more amateur hour."
"The press' does not run the Pentagon the people do. The press is no longer allowed to roam the halls of a secure facility. Wear a badge and follow the rules or go home. The Pentagon implemented a policy reportedly requiring journalists to agree not to gather or publish information that has not been approved for public release. News organizations and lawmakers from both parties denounced the policy as an unacceptable restriction on press freedom. President Donald Trump said the Pentagon should not decide what reporters can report and asserted that nothing prevents reporters from reporting. Rep. Don Bacon called the policy "dumb" and warned against state-controlled media. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the policy, saying the press does not run the Pentagon and must follow security rules.
