Tyler Robinson: Charlie Kirk's murder suspect in custody, Utah governor confirms
"The 79-year-old president said during a Friday (12 September) broadcast of Fox & Friends that there was a "high degree of certainty" that the suspected shooter had been detained following a days-long manhunt. "Essentially, somebody that was very close to him turned him in," Trump claimed during the broadcast. "It's interesting, we had very good pictures, but not great, not perfect.""
"During an FBI news conference held at 3pm UK time, Utah governor Spencer Cox confirmed: "We got him." He says a relative of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend, who then contacted a sheriff. Cox went on to say that a member of the suspect's family told investigators that Tyler Robinson had become "more political" in recent years."
Tyler Robinson, 22, was identified and detained as the suspect in the shooting of right-wing pundit Charlie Kirk after a relative alerted authorities. Two sources said Robinson lives in Southern Utah and apparently confessed to his father. The relative contacted a family friend who then notified a sheriff, and Utah governor Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest. Family members reported Robinson had become more political and had expressed dislike of Kirk before the event. Investigators recovered a bolt-action rifle wrapped in a dark towel and found inscriptions on bullet casings, including one reading "Notices, bulges".
