As GTA 4 turns 17, ex-Rockstar technical lead says that if GTA 6 was his baby, he "wouldn't release any additional trailers" because it's a "boss move"

The anticipated release of GTA 6 remains shrouded in mystery, with no confirmed release date or second trailer on the horizon. Former Rockstar developer Obbe Vermeij stated that he supports Rockstar's decision to keep fans waiting, suggesting that withholding trailers could enhance the game's launch impact. Reflecting on his experiences during the development of GTA 4, which faced its own delays, he noted the importance of timing in game releases and expressed his belief that limiting promotional content could amplify excitement.

If it was my call I wouldn't release any additional trailers. There is more than enough hype around VI and the element of surprise will only make the release bigger.

The original release date was October 16, 2007, in time for Christmas. We made the decision to delay the game in July 2007.
