The Washington Nationals are dealing with an early injury issue as pitcher Michael Soroka reports a bicep cramp. Manager Dave Martinez is awaiting updates. In their recent game, the team struggled, losing 5-2, highlighting a trend of poor plate discipline. While they maintain a solid home run average, their RISP batting is among the worst in the league. Manager Martinez emphasizes the need for constant improvement in pitching, defense, and base running to achieve success this season.
I just hit it perfect. The ball was a little bit outside, I kind of pulled it, and I had James Wood's bat in my hand, so I think that kind of helped. I used [his bat] in Spring Training a lot. I've got some on the way. We'll see what we can do. ... It's a little heavier, a little longer. So just kind of feeling the barrel, it just feels good in my hand.
Pitching, defense, running the bases, those have to be constants for us. We have to do the little things well.
