A recent study published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology suggests that drinking champagne or white wine may help lower the risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). By analyzing data from over 500,000 individuals, researchers identified 56 modifiable risk factors, demonstrating that lifestyle changes can significantly impact SCA prevention. In addition to alcoholic beverages, maintaining a healthy BMI, eating fruit, and positive mental health were linked to heart health. Interestingly, this study challenges the established belief regarding the exclusive benefits of red wine for heart protection.
"We conducted an exposome-wide association study, which examines the relationship between a wide range of environmental exposures and health outcomes. The study found significant associations between various modifiable factors and SCA, with lifestyle changes being the most impactful in preventing cases."
"All previous studies investigating the risk factors of SCA were hypothesis-driven and focused on a limited number of candidate exposure factors grounded in prior knowledge or theoretical frameworks."
