Martinelli's voluntarily recalls more than apple juice bottles due to potential toxin contamination
Briefly

Over 170,000 bottles of S. Martinelli & Co.'s apple juice have been recalled due to potential contamination with patulin, a mycotoxin produced by certain molds. The FDA's routine testing revealed one lot of juice, produced in December 2023, contained possible elevated levels of this toxic compound. Martinelli’s initiated the recall across 28 states, though no health issues have been reported. Consumers are advised to watch for affected four-packs sharing a specific UPC and best by date, and safety measures have been undertaken by both the company and retailers to prevent potential consumption.
In a statement to the Sentinel, Martinelli's officials wrote that no health issues have been associated with the recall, which was initiated last year.
According to the World Health Organization, symptoms of ingesting patulin may include nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances and vomiting.
