El Fasher, North Darfur has been under siege for over a year, trapping approximately 300,000 people facing starvation. The WFP reported that food assistance has not been delivered due to blocked roads, isolating the city and cutting off humanitarian access. Residents resort to eating hay or animal fodder, and food prices within the city are exorbitant compared to the rest of Sudan. A request for a humanitarian pause to transport urgent supplies has been made as the situation continues to deteriorate amid ongoing civil conflict in Sudan.
El Fasher, the capital of the state of North Darfur, has now been under siege for over a year. Approximately 300,000 people trapped inside the city face starvation.
WFP has not been able to deliver food assistance to El Fasher by road for over a year as all roads leading there are blocked. The city is cut off from humanitarian access.
