The military urged about 1 million Gaza City residents to move to al-Mawasi, a designated humanitarian zone. The UN estimates only about 50,000 left earlier. Many residents refuse to leave because they do not trust al-Mawasi’s safety, citing prior strikes and overcrowded tent encampments. Humanitarian conditions and safety have deteriorated, with reports of buildings flattened and short evacuation warnings.
