Palestinians wary as Israel begins military pauses to allow minimal' aid into Gaza
Briefly

The situation in Gaza remains critical as Israel implements a limited daily pause in fighting to allow minimal humanitarian aid. Many Palestinians have died of starvation due to an extensive blockade. The World Food Programme reports that 90,000 women and children urgently need nutrition assistance. Israel claims the tactical pauses aim to facilitate aid, countering accusations of deliberate starvation. Despite the pause, military operations continue in other parts of Gaza. Residents reacted with skepticism, and amid the pauses, new airstrikes have raised further concerns about safety and aid efforts.
Scores of Palestinians have died of starvation in recent weeks in a crisis attributed by humanitarian organisations and the UN to Israel's blockade of almost all aid into the territory.
The Israeli military said it had begun a tactical pause in the densely populated areas of Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Muwasi to increase the scale of humanitarian aid into the strip.
Israel said the measures were designed to improve the humanitarian situation and refute the false claim of deliberate starvation in the Gaza Strip, releasing footage of an overnight aid airdrop.
Jordan and the United Arab Emirates also carried out airdrops on Sunday afternoon.
