Yoga teacher training (YTT) was initially seen as a transformative journey for personal growth. Despite expectations, the experience resulted in affirmation rather than revelation. After completion, the writer feels unchanged, stating that their previous learnings about yoga and life persisted without significant transformation. The training offered valuable insights into yoga's physical and philosophical aspects and encouraged self-inquiry among participants. Although some individuals experienced profound change, the writer did not undergo a major shift in perspective or understanding of the universe as anticipated.
Several months and a certificate later, I am here to say I am—for better or for worse—the same exact human being I was when I signed up for YTT.
Digging into the concepts of yoga was more affirming than revelatory.
Along with a deep dive into the physical and philosophical elements of yoga, our cohort was encouraged to practice self-inquiry and share our findings in a safe container.
For some, YTT was an opportunity to view life in a wholly new way, and that transmutation was palpable.
