Emmie Brookman, 28, discovered human bones while renovating her 16th-century farmhouse, believing it to be a practice to ward off evil spirits. Purchased for $413,000, the house revealed more issues than initially thought, including pink mold and incorrect render trapping moisture. After chiseling off the render themselves to reveal the original stonework, Emmie found multiple bones, theorizing some might be human. Intrigued by the history, they later learned that a notorious murderer lived next door, but were not deterred by these discoveries.
It was very obviously a bone.
At first we thought we were going to find a full body.
There was pink mould growing on the wall. It smelled really musty.
We realized the wrong render had been used on the property which was trapping moisture.
