Chishuru and Akoko, two west African restaurants in London, have been awarded Michelin stars for their creative and modern take on west African cuisine.
Adejoke Bakare of Chishuru becomes the first Black woman in the UK to receive a Michelin star, and names the restaurant after a Hausa word meaning the silence that descends on the table when food arrives, highlighting the reverential approach to food in her culture. [ more ]
