Rowans Tenpin Bowl is more than just a bowling alley. It's an institution. The Finsbury Park venue as we know it has been around since 1988 (before that it was a cinema, a dancehall and a snookers club). Since then, it's become an icon of north London and has reportedly been graced by the likes of Craig David, King Charles, members of the Backstreet Boys and J-Lo. But its days may be numbered.

ACV status can help save pubs and other spaces the community cares about. It gave Barnet Museum time to investigate purchasing Tudor Hall and do their due diligence. The government is currently legislating for a longer period for community groups to raise the funds to buy and assess the feasibility of purchasing, levelling the playing field with commercial businesses. If the Black Horse does become an ACV, that could be an option for us if the legislation is passed in time.

Simpsons Tavern has been open in its narrow alley location since 1757 and was famous for its unfussy food and much more, its determined retention of 19th-century dining, with communal tables shared by diners. Like most restaurants, Simpsons was forced to close during the pandemic lockdown and had previously said it was seeking to negotiate a rent settlement with the landlord, who was still demanding payment in full. Since then, they've been stuck in a legal dispute with the landlord.

Earlier this year, Friends of Shepherd's Bush Market applied for ACV status in an effort to "protect" its future, after major redevelopment plans from developer Yoo Capital were approved. The group said ACV status would be the first step towards community ownership of the site, amid concerns that Yoo Capital intended on selling.
