The encounter occurred on April 15 at the Wedge, a popular surf spot, where an aggressive sea lion chased surfers due to suspected domoic acid poisoning.

Families flocked to the beach this weekend as temperatures rose, leading to warnings from police about the dangers of unsupervised children near water.

Yasmina Obono, from the Bronx, expressed her joy at the beach: 'Today, the water is so good! I think this is the best day.' Despite the approaching end of summer, she was determined to enjoy the last days of swimming, confidently stating her swimming skills and readiness to dive into the water, even amid rising concerns about safety without lifeguards.

'It is an amazing difference,' said Suzanne Grout Thomas, the town's director of community services, speaking of the service, which has only been up and running for a few days. 'Where there was none, there is a very strong signal.'

Saturday's forecast indicates mostly cloudy skies with light showers, while humidity remains high and temperatures will peak in the lower 80s, leading to uncomfortable conditions.
