Choosing a spindle bed depends on personal style, ranging from traditional to minimalist designs, enhancing bedroom aesthetics.
We still had nails in the walls from the previous owners! We had focused so much on other areas of the house that we completely neglected our bedroom. It felt boring, uninspiring, and very disorganized.
From a functional standpoint, I needed a bed that could be easily assembled, had considerable storage capability, and was built with durability top of mind. I liked the idea of Japanese joinery because it meant a tool-free experience.
We call it old-world chic. Their style is inspired by a beautiful hotel suite. The yellow in the bedroom is so that when you wake up, you always have this kind of sunshine. The dark bedroom benefits from the brightness seen in the curtains and upholstered bed frame.
First gaining popularity in the 15th century, four-poster frames have given bedrooms a striking focal point for hundreds of years. Named for their quartet of corner posts, they can be as simple as a short, turned wood knob on each end, or as extravagant as a ceiling-height canopy frame (drapes are optional). Beloved for their craftsmanship, these silhouettes are traditionally made in solid wood with turned, bobbin, and hand-carved details.
One thing about me: I love a feature that fills a home with character. Wood-paneled ceilings? Yes! Sunken living rooms? Sign me up! Crown molding? Please, please, please! The house my parents moved into after I graduated college is a split-level ranch meets mid-century modern home in Texas that isn't overwhelmed with this level of character but does have some very fun quirks - including a pocket door that leads to one guest bathroom.
A half-tester bed is a type of canopy bed where only the headboard is covered with fabric. Half-tester beds have been around for centuries and are excellent choices for rooms that may be overwhelmed by the size of a traditional canopy.
