The recall is due to the potential presence of cereulide toxin which can make babies sick, the Food Safety Authority said today. The recall , the latest in a series in recent months, has been expanded following the European Food Safety Authority's publication this week of a recommended acute reference dose for cereulide in infant formula. Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of bacteria that an cause food poisoning symptoms, which can be quick to develop and include vomiting and stomach cramps.
