STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A 19-year-old woman from Staten Island managed to arrange a ride for herself after she and her boyfriend left the scene of a fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge, New Jersey, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Advance/SILive.com.
Although his driver's license was suspended, Alvi Limani, 20, of Prince's Bay, allegedly was behind the wheel of a gray BMW X3 occupied by three other people when the horrific crash occurred on the evening of June 29, according to the criminal complaint. Albion Hysenaj, 19, of Great Kills, died and Joseph Donzella, 21, of Bay Terrace, was seriously injured after they were ejected from the backseat of Limani's BMW.
Police said a group of suspects crashed a pick-up truck into the Louis Vuitton store on East Walton Street. Cellphone video from a witness captured the moment thieves rammed the vehicle into the luxury store. The video then shows a group of people dressed in dark clothing rush into the store and then run out with stolen items. The people are then seen getting into other vehicles that were either parked nearby or that pulled up.
Police say 21-year-old James Korakis, of 9th Avenue in Whitestone, was riding a BMW motorcycle northbound on the Cross Island Parkway service road near 157th Street just after 7 p.m. when he collided with a Mine Cooper driven by a 28-year-old man who was also traveling northbound on the service road. The impact of the crash sent the motorcycle into two parked and unoccupied vehicles, a Toyota Rav4 and a Chevy Impala, police said.
"Mayor Adams and the DOT, shame on you for not fixing this yesterday," said Ron Gentile, a friend of 55-year-old cyclist Kevin Cruickshank who was killed by a driver at Canal Street over the weekend. "This is the fully predictable consequence of the design of this intersection, or park, or highway off ramp, or whatever you want to call it."
