In 1971, Manolo Blahnik created shoes for the designer Ossie Clark's catwalk show in London. Relatively new to shoemaking, the Spanish designer forgot to put steel pins in the heels of the shoes, which meant that models wobbled, unbalanced, down the catwalk.

The museum, which displays Walthamstow's colourful cultural history - not to mention Britain's first ever petrol-fuelled car - closed for renovation in December 2023.

A socioeconomic duty on public bodies was included in 2010's Equality Act, but has never been enacted. In 2014, Scottish artist Andy Scott made international headlines with the unveiling of his colossal dual horse-head sculptures, The Kelpies. Completed in late 2013, they are installed in the Helix park in Flakirk, Scotland, and each of the steel heads measures 98-feet high and weighs in at a whopping 300 tons. The works have become iconic in their own right, but also exemplary of Scott's practice, which takes focus on animal forms and employs the visually and thematically weighty materials of steel or bronze.

It's not that advertising campaigns are never announced, but when they are, it's usually in advertising trade magazines, and generally by the agency that did the work. The client doesn't normally issue a press release that essentially says, "We are putting up some posters." Yet that is exactly what the Tate has done, issuing a general announcement that it will run an advertising campaign for its upcoming Tracey Emin exhibition.

In the story of art history-the art and artists, movements and trends-a select number of galleries have played a defining role in the evolution and trajectory of art itself. Among them, the Mayor Gallery in London is surely one, as it has maintained a position fostering and promoting some of the most significant developments in art for an astounding 100 years.

"Working Arts Club was always going to exist outside of London because class issues in the art world are systemic not geographic," founder Meg Molloy, who works in London as a freelance communications consultant for the art world. "The need for what our network can do is widespread and going to Northern England felt like a natural next step in our operations."

The Courtauld has announced plans for two new contemporary art galleries and a reading room at London's Somerset House, supported by a £10m gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation. The donation brings the Foundation's total support for the institution to £20m. The Blavatnik Contemporary Galleries are expected to open in 2029 as part of a wider campus redevelopment, costing £82m. This redevelopment will also involve the construction of a new Blavatnik Reading Room inside the Courtauld's remodelled library.

But at the end of this month, there's a brand new festival arriving to inject some colour into the financial district. 'Vibrance' will light up Roman ruins, medieval churches and secret gardens across the Square Mile on Thursday January 29 and Friday January 30 from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. Created by Guildhall Production Studio, it brings together more than a dozen artworks and live performances by emerging artists from Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
