Several of the affected areas have had their food operations suspended until the establishment can provide all necessary professional cleaning and sanitation documentation to ensure all health and sanitation requirements have been addressed.
Though he declined to elaborate on the record, a work crew member expressed sadness over the restaurant's demise, recognizing it as an icon whose quiet end - while not a total surprise - was still abrupt.
"We take the health and safety of Detroit residents very seriously," said Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair Razo. "Through the Dining with Confidence Ordinance and our ongoing inspections, we are working to ensure that our city's restaurants are safe, clean, and meet the highest food safety standards."
