I'm pleased that we've reached an agreement that stays within VTA's financial limits while fairly recognizing the contributions of our employees. This contract ensures manageable labor costs over the next four years and provides our workforce with the compensation they deserve.

The union stated that the new contract represents an "industry-leading" formula worth $595 million in one-off payments, compensating for the lack of cost-of-living raises since 2020.

The union originally said in February that workers took job action due to LifeLabs' refusal to increase wages and benefits to cover the high cost of living.

"This contract ensures that our members will continue to receive the pay and benefits they deserve for the hard work they do," a union coalition representative said of the agreement.
