But on Friday, Nintendo soaked up all the attention with an hour-long Direct. Sure, it included some first-party games, such as Mario Tennis Fever, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and a Donkey Kong Bananza expansion. But Nintendo highlighted several indie games in the newsy showcase, too. Hades 2 is arguably the highest-profile name among those, and the full version isn't far away at all it'll hit Switch, Switch 2, Steam and Epic Games Store on September 25.

As you might expect, we here at Game Informer love playing video games, and we love writing about them because it's our best way of speaking directly to you - our audience. We enjoy sharing the games we're loving, the ones we're not, what titles fascinate us, what we're looking forward to, and occasionally, what we had for lunch (carne asada is back at Chipotle, so I indulged in a burrito there today).

Demos, DLC, and shadow drops are available on Switch right now Another Nintendo Direct is in the books, and the roughly hour-long presentation unloaded information about the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. After the Mario-related spectacle, the Direct switched gears and revealed a few demos and even full games that are already available to download on the eShop starting today. These titles include DLC for one of the biggest Switch 2 games to date, a cartoony survival game, a beloved RPG, and a couple of roguelikes.

As has been much rumored over the last couple of weeks, a Nintendo Direct has now been officially confirmed for September 12. That's Friday this week, if you've lost track of your calendar. It's timed to fall the day before Mario's 40th birthday, so it seems likely that'll be at least part of the focus. Of course, there's also a lot of expectation around Metroid Prime 4.

Roughly 9-minutes of new footage of Battlefield 6 recently leaked showing off more of its battle royale mode. The map looks massive and the gameplay shows swimming and shooting while in the water. There's also a dual-purpose ladder gizmo and smashing through a concrete wall with a sledgehammer. "Can't wait to play 1 single round of this then go back to the real Battlefield and never touch it again," wrote on fan on Reddit.

"It is the million dollar question. I have been told there is a Direct this month, the month of July, but that Direct will not take place until after Donkey Kong Bananza releases."

The next Nintendo Direct focused on Donkey Kong's adventure, Donkey Kong Bananza, will air on June 18, featuring 15 minutes of new game details.
