The general manager for the Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa told SFGATE that while its 233 employees were told they were laid off, the resort plans to keep on as many staff members as it can during the seven-month renovation, with a commitment to rehire the rest after the modernization is complete.
"It has been estimated that one million five hundred thousand houses each year for a period of 10 years will be needed to relieve the urgent housing problem of this country. The enormity of such a need cannot even be partially satisfied by building techniques as we have known and used them in the past."
This contemporary residence offers a clean look with wire-brushed wood floors, LED lighting and a modern kitchen with a tiled backsplash and custom cabinetry. A glass-enclosed staircase leads up three floors to a private rooftop deck plumbed for a gas barbecue and a spa.
"The expansion positions NYC Alliance for continued growth while strengthening its design, showroom and operational presence in the historic fashion corridor," Peter Braus said, according to the New York Post.

Indian Hills Ridge is a development of CoastFed Properties, formerly the Mayer Group. Construction has begun on four models at Indian Hills Ridge, a 66-acre project east of Yosemite Avenue and north of Flannagan Drive in northeast Simi Valley.
Much was made of the building's unique shape. Instead of the standard glass box, it's a triangle, rounded by nodes that pop out at each of its three points to offer 230-degree views for most apartments. Advertisements touted the building as "the shape of things to come," and buyers bought in. When complete in December 1999, the 22-story building will have floor-to-ceiling windows of silver blue-gray glass in place of its concrete facade and aggregate panels. The structure will feature an upturned metal canopy on the penthouse floor that will be visible from much of the Westside when the building is illuminated.
The second highest sale was for a home built in 1948, but remodeled and known most recently as the Cameron Estate because it was owned by Ron Cameron, who developed the Malibu Grand Prix, a racing park in Northridge, open to the public. Cameron owned the 5-acre Malibu home, with about 7,000 square feet of interior space and 450 feet of beach frontage, for about 10 years.
Spyglass Hill was the first of the planned communities that emerged in Newport Beach. Originally owned by the Irvine family, the land was developed under the auspices of the Irvine Co. Spyglass Hill was built in the early 1970s by the Lusk Co., and the last tract was completed in 1972.
