Man, it's an honor. I'm so grateful to be the guy who gets the ball on that day. Obviously it's a game just like the rest of the other 162, but I'm super grateful. Opening Day, it is really something that is truly special. I understand how much it means to Chicago fans and how much it means to my own family.

This week, Brett and I talk about Matthew Boyd's exit from Team USA and Opening Day Starter assignment. After that, we discuss Matt Shaw's usage this spring and how we think the Cubs will (and should) deploy him this season.

After receiving 10 inches of snowfall in the last week, Brian Head Resort became Utah's first resort to open the 2025-26 ski season on Friday, November 21. The resort was originally scheduled to open on November 7 and subsequently postponed season opening twice, first to November 15 and then to November 21. The delayed opening followed weeks of unusually warm weather sweeping across the southern Rockies, delaying season opening in both Utah and Colorado.

The Twins will have the earliest Opening Day in franchise history in 2026 when they start the season on March 26 at Baltimore. The home opener will be Friday, April 3, against Tampa Bay at Target Field. There is no off-day after the home opener. Major League Baseball teams released their 162-game 2026 schedules on Tuesday. The Twins regular season next year will end Sept. 27 with a home game against Texas.

The Detroit Tigers released their schedule for the 2026 season on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and they begin with Opening Day on March 26 against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The Tigers play their first six games on the road, facing the Padres for a three-game series (March 26-28) and the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series (March 30-April 1) at Chase Field.
