For years, the prevailing theory amongst workers about "unlimited vacation" is that it actually encourages workers to take less time off. Without the entitlement to a set number of days, employees can feel awkward requesting days off, or worried that doing so will make them look less committed to work. But a new study from payroll and HR platform Deel finds it's less about specific PTO policies than about culture. It all depends on where you live, says Lauren Thomas, the startup's economist.

Over time, this initial emotional impulse seems to have subsided, and some Russian-speaking Ukrainians have reverted to their old ways. A significant proportion of young people in schools, and sometimes even teachers, continue to speak Russian to each other. Nevertheless, the use of Ukrainian in schools continues to increase, according to a study conducted by the State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine (SSEQU) and the Commissioner for the Protection of the Ukrainian Language in April and May 2025.

The average size of newly built single-family homes in the United States has stabilized in recent years after decades of steady growth. As of mid-2025, new homes average about 2,364 square feet, with a median size of around 2,125 square feet, according to U.S. Census and National Association of Home Builders data. This marks a slight decline from the mid-2010s, when new homes peaked near 2,500 square feet, reflecting shifting buyer preferences toward smaller, more affordable, and energy-efficient spaces.
