Sweet flavors and a sweet dukkah topping enhance Rosh Hashanah meals, featuring apples in honey, fruit platters, and a sesame-nut dukkah recipe.
Rosh Hashanah is the lighter side of the high holidays, with observers encouraged to eat challah or apples dipped in golden honey to usher in a sweet new year. In Los Angeles, members of the Jewish diasporic community have the opportunity to order complete takeout meals (or complementary sides to home-cooked dishes) to assemble and eat at home, and this year, there are some dine-in options to explore as well.
Join Kehillat Harlem (2248 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.), a partnership-style shul uptown, for Maariv evening services on Monday, Sep. 22 at 6:30 p.m and Rosh Hashanah dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 23, also at 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided for morning services on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, which run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kehillat Harlem is also hosting Yom Kippur services (and break fast) on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and Thursday, Oct. 2.
