1 day agoUnited flight from SFO disrupted by 'possible drone strike'
A United Airlines flight reported a possible drone strike but landed safely with no damage.
Woodstock, the Oakland-Alameda water shuttle which connects Western Alameda with Jack London Square, was taken out of service Saturday evening after "a safety incident at the Bohol dock," said Alameda spokesperson Sarah Henry. Henry explained that a person, potentially with mental health issues, was shouting threats at Woodstock crew and riders Saturday evening and Sunday. Ultimately, police were called and the individual was removed, Henry explained. Service resumed on Tuesday, operating on a newly implemented winter schedule (there is no service on Mondays).
"There was a chemical leak in the basement of Guy's hospital. It's just reopened now. One of the engineers accidentally mixed chlorine with sulphuric acid, and it totally exploded."
A 70-year-old man, Robert Spagnuolo, died on July 4 in Wareham when a firework he was setting off exploded in his face. Witnesses reported that he was at the beach setting off fireworks when one exploded. First responders were called to the scene at 9:19 p.m. and found him with an injury to his face, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
While somebody trying to open a plane's exit in midair would be a frightening situation, it is not possible to actually open the door at altitude.
