If you were affected by the Verizon outage earlier this month that took down the company's network for most of a day, the Federal Communications Commission wants to hear from you. In a document released earlier this week, the FCC explained that its Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau was officially investigating the outage and was seeking information from frustrated customers, particularly those who tried to call 911 or other public safety numbers but couldn't.

To its credit (literally), Verizon has said it will contact customers and provide them with a $20 credit for the inconvenience. Posting on X, the mobile company wrote on Thursday: "Yesterday, we did not meet the standard of excellence you expect and that we expect of ourselves. To help provide some relief to those affected, we will give you a $20 account credit that can be easily redeemed by logging into the myVerizon app."

Verizon said it would provide those affected with a $20 account credit redeemable through the myVerizon app. "This credit isn't meant to make up for what happened," Verizon said in its statement. "No credit really can. But it's a way of acknowledging our customers' time and showing that this matters to us." The company also said that if customers are still experiencing issues, they should restart their devices to reconnect to the network.
