GdS: Milan begin searching for striker ahead of January - first few names emerge
"Santiago Gimenez hasn't scored in over 10 hours of Serie A action, and this has inevitably forced AC Milan to look for solutions. As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report, the Milan management tried to offload Gimenez in the summer but in the end they gave him until January to prove himself, and his return of zero league goals in over 600 minutes of play could force new reflections."
"In addition to the Ukrainian striker, Milan are also reportedly pursuing two 'new' targets: Joaquin Panichelli of Strasbourg and Jonathan Burkardt of Eintracht Frankfurt. The former is a 23-year-old Argentine who played for River Plate, and is being eyed by several other European giants, given his 10 goals already in Ligue 1. The latter, meanwhile, has so far scored nine goals in 12 games for the Bundesliga club, which means he is valued at over €30m."
Santiago Gimenez has failed to score in over 600 Serie A minutes, leaving AC Milan with a pressing striker issue. Milan management attempted to offload Gimenez in the summer but ultimately granted him until January to prove his worth. CEO Giorgio Furlani and sporting director Igli Tare are scouting potential reinforcements ahead of the winter window to address Massimiliano Allegri's striker concerns. Targets under consideration include Artem Dovbyk, Joaquin Panichelli and Jonathan Burkardt. Panichelli is a 23-year-old ex-River Plate forward with ten Ligue 1 goals, while Burkardt has nine goals in 12 Bundesliga games and carries a valuation above €30m. Joshua Zirkzee could be considered if offered, though Milan are unlikely to initiate a move after his summer rejection.
