"Mom I am so incredibly grateful for the birthday gift and it's really hard for me to tell you this but money is so tight that I can't afford to go because I don't have the extra cash for meals and all the other odds and ends that come with traveling. It means so much to me that you wanted to have this experience but it just won't work. Can I take a rain check for sometime in the future when I'm in a better place financially and with my anxiety? Given everything I have going on, surprise trips probably aren't the best for me."
