Two 27-year-old men from Forest Gate, Lekan Akinsoji and Sundjata Keita, were found guilty of murdering 21-year-old Ahmed Deen-Jah after he was chased into an off-licence and stabbed near Custom House station on 2 April 2017. Judge Anthony Leonard KC sentenced Akinsoji to life with a minimum term of 28 years and Keita to life with a minimum term of 22 years. The victim's family attended the Old Bailey sentencing, describing profound grief after also losing a younger son, Junior, in April 2021. The family called the killings senseless and urged recognition of their enduring loss.
