Smoke and chaos': a snapshot of Gaza in pictures
Briefly

People return to Khan Younis, on foot or crammed on to pick-up trucks and donkey carts, from camps along the coast to search through the remains of their homes.
The corridors of al-Aqsa are crowded with patients. The hospital had a capacity of 200 beds before this war, today it has 685 patients with another 200 outside in hastily erected field hospitals.
More than 310 bodies have been discovered in mass graves in the hospital grounds after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) withdrew on April 7.
Moments before this photo was taken, a drone had fired a missile inside the courtyard of Nasser hospital in Khan Younis, just a few metres from the entrance to the emergency department. Four people were killed and 17 injured, including seven journalists.
