Jury selection begins in the corruption trial of Bob Menendez, accused of bribery and acting as an unregistered agent of the Egyptian government.
Prosecutors allege Menendez accepted bribes for political influence, helped Egyptian businessman, and directed funds to New Jersey developer, among other charges.
Cash, gold bars, and car were part of alleged bribes. Menendez also accused of trying to influence arms sales and disrupting a criminal case against a co-defendant.
Menendez's wife faces separate trial. Menendez and all defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
