We have limited cognitive resources to use for thinking, planning, strategizing, and willpower. If we keep drawing from that pool of resources without restoring them, we can feel depleted. Our brain gets sluggish, and we don't make very good decisions.
When we use our physical senses-touch, sight, smell, hearing, taste-our thinking mind gets to rest and can build up its storehouse of resources again.
