It boils down like this: Back in the day, when you downloaded the monthly freebies from PS Plus Essential, they were yours to keep for so long as you maintained your subscription. It was a great deal, and made logging in at the start of a month-well-essential. However, in 2022 this changed, with PS Plus shifting to be more like Microsoft's Game Pass, such that the games are only accessible to play so long as they remain a part of the PS Plus catalog.
A new firmware update--Version: 25.06-12.02.00--for the PlayStation 5 console has gone live, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't do much. What this new update does is improve the security on your device, but don't expect to see any new major features added to your PS5 once it has been installed. "We've made some security fixes to the system software," reads the very succinct update notes.
The PlayStation Game Catalog lineup for September has been announced. This month, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium members will be able to play Visual Concepts' latest wrestling game, WWE 2K25. The game introduced new modes and gameplay improvements over its predecessor. Other titles joining Game Catalog in September include turn-based strategy game; Persona 5 Tactica; survival title, Green Hell; action RPG, Fate/Samurai Remnant; survival horror game, Crow Country; adventure title, The Invincible; and yet another survival horror game, Conscript.
On Wednesday, Sony rolled out its September Game Catalog additions for PS Plus subscribers. This month's entries run the gamut from turn-based tactics to survival horror and pro wrestling. Persona 5 Tactica (PS5/ PS4) may be the most critically acclaimed title in the batch. The 2023 Persona spinoff takes the mainline games' battles and shifts them into grid-based tactics. Think XCOM with Phantom Thieves.
