Tesla, despite earlier criticism from its CEO Elon Musk regarding lidar sensors, is now Luminar's top customer, accounting for more than 10% of Luminar's revenue in the first quarter of 2024.
Luminar reported a 5% revenue drop from the previous quarter, attributed to lower sensor sales to non-automotive customers, but offset by sales to Tesla, its largest lidar customer in Q1, contributing to a 45% year-over-year revenue gain.
