"This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but after 7.5 unforgettable years with amazing friends, family, and community, Tiger's Taproom will be closing. In the same announcement, Brian notes that small businesses are suffering and losing foot traffic."
"The Barbary, a themed bar that served handcrafted drinks, opened its doors a little over two years ago, led by two sisters who previously worked at Trader Vic's. The building was also once home to Libertine and Lucky Lounge."
"Alley Kitchens served a variety of Japanese fare, such as tonkotsu ramen and chirashi bowls. The restaurant, near the Cal campus on Telegraph Avenue, focused on Japanese alley dining has closed."
Several East Bay dining establishments have recently closed or undergone ownership changes. Alley Kitchens, a Japanese alley dining restaurant near UC Berkeley's campus on Telegraph Avenue serving tonkotsu ramen and chirashi bowls, has shut down. The Barbary, a handcrafted cocktail bar in Oakland that operated for just over two years under two sisters formerly of Trader Vic's, is transferring to new ownership and rebranding as Sable Lounge. Gus's World Famous Chicken, a Tennessee-based fried chicken chain that arrived in the Bay Area during the pandemic, closed its Oakland Broadway location. Tiger Taproom, a Jack London neighborhood beer bar operating for 7.5 years, announced its final service on March 1, with the owner citing challenging conditions for small businesses and declining foot traffic.
