Wind advisory in place for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area until early Wednesday evening  gusts as high as 45 mph
"On Tuesday at 2:15 a.m. the National Weather Service released a wind advisory valid from 10 p.m. until Wednesday Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area. The NWS Reno NV adds to be ready for, Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph in lower valleys and gusts up to 100 mph along the Sierra crest."
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, according to the NWS. Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, holiday decorations, and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage."
National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 4 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 17. Southwest winds of 20–30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected in lower valleys and gusts up to 100 mph along the Sierra crest; Lake Tahoe should see southwest winds 25–30 mph, gusts to 45 mph, and 2–4 foot waves. Gusty winds can blow unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and cause power outages. Residents should secure patio furniture, decorations, trash cans, trim tree branches, secure gutters and shutters, prepare emergency supplies, and exercise driving caution, especially with high-profile vehicles. High wind alerts indicate levels for taking action or preparing.
