Modern Indian restaurant Pippal is expanding to Dublin
"Pippal is scheduled to open in October at the Shops at Waterford plaza, filling a space left by Coco Cabana. It's an expansion of the original Pippal (pronounced people) in Emeryville, backed by the same team behind Fitoor, Alora Social and San Francisco's Michelin-recognized ROOH Progressive Indian. Pippal's philosophy is bringing together the myriad regions of India under one umbrella, and then sprinkling them with California twists."
"While Dublin's menu is still under wraps, the Emeryville spot has dishes like Pepper Crab Meat with fermented pancake and curry (from Kerala) and fried chicken with fresh coconut and chili (from Andhra Pradesh). The menu items are tagged with the geography they hail from; thus, when nibbling a Beetroot Kebab with cream cheese and cornflakes, you know it's somehow inspired by the food of Kolkata. The modern Indian restaurant is scheduled to open in Oct. 2025 in Dublin, Calif."
Pippal will open in October 2025 at the Shops at Waterford plaza in Dublin, California, occupying the space vacated by Coco Cabana. The Dublin location expands the original Pippal in Emeryville and is backed by the same team behind Fitoor, Alora Social and ROOH Progressive Indian. The concept unites cuisines from multiple Indian regions and incorporates California twists. Examples from Emeryville include Pepper Crab Meat with fermented pancake and curry (Kerala), fried chicken with fresh coconut and chili (Andhra Pradesh), and a Beetroot Kebab inspired by Kolkata. Munish Rana will serve as head chef and a Mumbai-based architect designed the interior. Actor Jatin Bunty Grewal is among the backers. Reservations begin in early October.
