"This song is about the bravery it takes to hope. It's the willingness to ask questions, even when knowing you'll never get a definitive answer. The tone of Matt's voice has such an epic, almost ancient quality to it, which felt perfect for a song asking such a big existential question. We're both searching for answers- together and yet somehow always apart, which I find beautiful."
"'I Want That For You' is the last song we wrote for the record, and kind of encapsulates to me the whole message of No Need To Be Lonely. It came from a conversation with a beloved friend that was having a hard time. We were talking about how it's strange and difficult to be a human sometimes. I often think about how easy it is to see the beauty and wonderful qualities in someone else, but how hard it is to apply that same love to yourself."
Anna Calvi's new EP 'Is This All There Is?' features a title track duet with Matt Berninger of The National. The song explores themes of bravery, hope, and existential questioning. Calvi describes the collaboration as capturing the beauty of searching for answers together while remaining apart. Berninger's voice brings an epic, ancient quality and intimacy to the track. Simultaneously, Gladie releases their album 'No Need To Be Lonely' with the single 'I Want That For You,' their final song written for the record. Augusta Koch explains the track encapsulates the album's message about recognizing beauty and wonderful qualities in others while struggling to apply that same love to oneself.
