Kelsey Lu announces first LP in 7 years ft. Kim Gordon, Kamasi Washington & more, shares "Running to Pain"
"So Help Me God was built slowly and intentionally across seven years of transformation. Sonically and emotionally it holds so many different worlds at once - devotion and desire, collapse and becoming - trying to make sense of what it means to break, to believe, to long for something without seeing it clearly, and to be reborn again and again and again."
Kelsey Lu announces 'So Help Me God,' her first album since 2019's 'Blood,' arriving June 12 via Dirty Hit. Developed intentionally over seven years, the album explores themes of devotion, desire, collapse, and rebirth, blending multiple sonic and emotional worlds. Produced with Jack Antonoff and Yves Rothman, it features notable collaborators including Sampha, Kamasi Washington, and Kim Gordon. The lead single 'Running to Pain,' directed by Savanah Leaf, showcases the album's cinematic aesthetic. Lu will perform a bi-coastal Blue Note residency in April with shows in New York and Los Angeles, each featuring early and late performances.
